JF: I couldn’t make out the words on the original recording—so I made up the change!
JF: to paraphrase the fellow at the end of the bar, we like the cup that is in front of us. The early days of the band were fueled but impossible dosages of Cafe Bustello (which is not so terrific tasting, but will make you JUMP) and the ubiquity of Starbucks across the country was a welcome improvement to our touring reality. A few months back I had Bustello at Linnell’s house and I was kind of surprised he’s stuck to it. I get various beans—often from Porto Rico Coffee Importing in NYC. French roast is my regular jam, but I think I might actually like Columbian more….
JF: I’ve always respected that guy. Maybe I’ll see if I can make that happen.
I’ve always been better at math than drawing, but here’s a little pencil sketch I did that illustrates the best of both worlds. It shows simplified versions of my favorite band’s most identifiable instruments—all in an irrefutable equation. QED.
A drawing I did in which Flans and Bender from Futurama are sharing a drink. Why? I don’t know. I was 13 at the time.
JF: that might have been a secret lure they put in to draw you out—like how the Ken Kesey “Furthur” bus drives me crazy!
